We have stayed at various hotels and bed-and-breakfasts in Hudson and recommend the Maker above all others. I wish to give a special shout out to the front desk staff including the attentive manager Nicole and her team inclusive of John, Nate and the others who made our stay so enjoyable. One can kayak and tour without climbing back into one’s car. Right on the main street in the middle of the quaint town of Hudson New York one walks outside the door to a world of antique shops, galleries, small specialty shops and restaurants. Fresh brewed coffee with a homemade treat is brought to the room at dawn each day.

The food in all of the venues, the main dining room conservatory, the lounge and the café varied and of great quality with memorable meals. The Maker is, as the name would suggest, an ode to Hudson. The Maker boasts the town’s only hotel pool, available exclusively to residing guests. In the heart of downtown Hudson, The Maker is a stylish 11-room boutique hotel founded by the founders of global beauty brand, Fresh. Nightly rates start at $350 for The Bedroom, with larger, themed rooms like The Writer, The Gardener, The Architect, and The Artist positioning the hotel as a higher-end option for the area. To start, the hotel is open Thursday to Monday, with three-night minimum stays.

The team has spent the past few months fine-tuning details, curating their shop, and figuring out how to safely open while hitting the marks of five-star service. Like many of the historic properties in Hudson, the historic Greek revival building needed a complete restoration all of the original details of the space were refurbished and reconstructed, resulting in a new building with all the old details. “It’s surrounded by the Catskill mountains, farms where you can get incredible produce - to me, it felt like the Sonoma Valley of the East Coast.” “There’s an amazing energy here,” says Glatzman.
